Celebrities slated for mini Comic - Con in Anahiem:

Thousands of comic and pop - culture fans, some in costume, are expected to geek out at a big Anahiem convention this weekend that will feature exclusive screenings and celebrities, including Jonah Hill and Emma Stone.

WonderCon, which is put on by the same developers as Comic - Con International, is coming to the Anahiem Convention Center, probably for one time only. WonderCon usually is held each spring in San Francisco, but a facility there is closed for renovations. WonderCon planners decided to move the event temporarily to Anahiem.

Crowd estimates were unavailable, but last year's San Francisco convention drew about 50,000 people. Fans often dress up as their favorite superheros or characters.

The Anahiem show will be larger; About 900 exhibitors, such as publishers and autograph booths. That's roughly 250 more than last year. The close proximity to Hollywood could help draw more celebrities.

That's because school is out in some places.

The "Remember Dreams Come True" show, which originally was created for the park's 50th anniversary, is running at Disneyland Park.

The park is also running the Fantasmic! show twice each night through April 22. Fantasmic! returns to a weekends - only schedule after that.

At the next - door park, Disney California Adventure Park is putting the "World of Color" light and water show two times each night.

45 years of pillaging pirates, singing donkeys and cherished memories:

On the morning of March 18, 1967, a boat full of unsuspecting travelers drifted down the bayou in search of adventure. As fireflies lit the sky, they soon sailed into uncharted waters and witnessed pirates seizing a town.

No, this isn't a folk tale; it's the story of opening day of Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland Park. And this month, the attraction celebrates its 45th anniversary.

In the early stages of design, the attraction's original conept was a walk - through which Guests would meander. After "it's a small world" became an efficiency marvel at the 1964-65 New York's World's Fair, a new idea was sparked to create a similar flume - style attraction. Technology advancements in Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln and Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room allowed Imagineers to bring the pirates to life in new ways.

Beyond the unforgettable pirate and animal Audio - Animatronics figures, one of the most memorable elements of the attraction is the theme song, "Yo Ho, Yo Ho; a Pirate's Life for Me." The lyrics, written by Imagineer Xavier Atencio and music by George Bruns, was loosely based on the sailor's song, "Dead Man's Chest" from the 1883 novel "Treasure Island."

Today, countless Cast Members passionately maintain the last attraction Walt worked on before his passing; recent additions have included characters from the four movies that were based on the original attraction.

Club 33 is located above Pirates of the Caribbean, and if you listen from the Club, you can hear the music..."Yo Ho, Yo Ho; a Pirate's Life for Me." Dr Lee

"it's a small world" songwriter Robert Sherman passes away at 86:

How do you sum up the work of songwriter Robert B. Sherman? Try one word, "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious."

The tongue - twisted term, sung by magical nanny Mary Poppins, is like much of Robert Sherman's work - both complex and instantly memorable, for child and adult alike.Once heard, it was never forgotten. Their work includes the jaunty "A Spoonful of Sugar" and their somber "Feed the Birds" for "Mary Poppins".

Robert Sherman and his brother Richard, put songs into the mouths of nannies and chimney sweeps, jungle animals and Parisian felines. The Sherman Brothers composed scores for films including "The Jungle Book," "The Aristocats," "Tiki Tiki Tiki Room" and "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang." They also wrote the most - played tune on earth,"it's a small world"(after all).

The Sherman Brothers career was long, prolific and garlanded with awards. They won two Academy Awards for Walt Disney's 1964 "Mary Poppins" - best score and best song, "Chim Chim Cheree." They also picked up a Grammey for best movie or TV score. Their hundreds of credits as joint lyricist and composer also include the films "Winne the Pooh," "The Slipper and the Rose," "Snoopy Come Home," "Charlotte's Web" and "The Magic of Lassie."
The Sherman brothers awards include 23 gold and platinum albums and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They became the only Americans ever to win First Prize at the Moscow Film Festival for "Tom Sawyer" in 1973 and were inducted into the Song-writers Hall of Fame in 2005.

As a film critic,Leonard Maltin saided recently, "you can't help but smile when you sing or hum a Sherman brothers song."

Robert Sherman was born on Dec. 19,1925 in New York City.

Robert's son Jeff, posted on Facebook:

Hello to family and friends,

I have very sad news to convey,

My Dad, Robert B. Sherman, passed away tonight in London. He went peacefully after months of truly valiantly fending off death. He loved life and his dear heart finally slowed to a stop when he could fight no more.

I will write more about this incredible man I love and admire so much when I am better rested and composed. He deserves that.

In the meantime, please say a prayer for him. As he said, he wanted to bring happiness to the world and, unquestionably, he succeeded. His love and his prayers, his philosophy and his poetry will live on forever. Forever his songs and his genius will bring hope, joy and love to this small, small world.

I Love you, Dad.

Safe travels.

Love

Jeff
