Doc McStuffins visits Disney California Adventure Park starting May 5th:

Disney Junior fans are in for a treat this summer!! "Doc" McStuffins  will be making special appearances at Disney California Adventure Park for a limited time beginning May 5 thru the end of July. Guests will be able to meet her in Hollywood Land near "Disney Junior- Live on Stage!"

Since debuting in 2012, "Doc McStuffins" has become one of the most popular shows on Disney Junior. Doc is a nurturing, 6-year-old girl who can talk to the stuffed animals and toys she cares for in her playhouse clinic, diagnosing their "ouchies" with help from her mom (a real doctor) and her "Big Book of Boo Boos." The acclaimed, Emmy-nominated series airs daily on Disney Channel and Disney Junior.

History and Heritage:

On May 4,2004, a Hollywood-style premiere was thrown at Disney California Adventure Park to celebrate the debut of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. At the event, held on the eve of the attraction's official opening, the red carpet was rolled out for celebrities such as Melissa Joan Hart and David Hasselhoff.

Guest of honor Carol Serling, widow of "The Twilight Zone" TV series creator Rod Serling, spoke at a brief ceremony.

"Rod would surely be delighted to know that 'The Twilight Zone' lives on in the hearts of so many fans," she said. "And he would be thrilled to know that his beloved 'fifth dimension' has been brought to life in such an exciting way."

Guests visiting the Hollywood Tower Hotel learn that, on a stormy Halloween night in 1939, five unlucky hotel guests mysteriously disappeared during a doomed elevator ride and were never seem again. Since that dreadful night, the hotel has remained abandoned-until now. A maintenance service elevator awaits those brave enough to journey to another realm of sight and sound. Shrieks and screams fill the elevator as it free falls 13 floors.

Looming 183 feet above the ground, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is the tallest attraction at the Disneyland Resort. A must-experience attraction when it opened, it still casts a large shadow for Guests today.

Rock around the clock:

Get ready for an all-night summer kickoff:

Memorial Day weekend is almost here, and Disney Parks is starting it right with a character-filled all-day, all-night celebration. "Rock Your Disney Side: 24-hours" welcomes summer with non-stop party at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, from 6 a.m. on May 23 to 6a.m. on May 24. the bicoastal event is happening concurrently at Magic Kingdom Park at the Walt Disney Resort. This is the 3rd year 24-hour event and each year it gets bigger and better.

And this party comes with a special invitation: Guests can show their Disney side by dressing as their favorite Disney hero or villain. Along with 24 straight hours to enjoy favorite attractions and entertainment across both parks, some all-time favorite characters will be making rare meet-and-greet appearances throughout the event. Social media is a huge part of the celebration; Guests will find specially themed photo locations around the parks, and are encouraged to share their experiences and photos using the hashtag #DisneySide.

Speaking of heroes and villains, Walt Disney Pictures' "Maleficent"- in theaters May 30- comes out shortly after this celebration. All Guests will receive a commemorative button celebrating the film's release, and a few other event touches will feature the famously pointy-horned foe.

Those too bashful to come in costume can still look ready to roll in a "Rock Your Disney Side" T-shirt, pullover fleece sweatshirt or ear hat, available at park merchandise locations during the event. A special glow baton that's perfect for brightening up the night will also be available.

History & Heritage:

 Canoeing through the wild frontier:

On May 19,1971, the popular summertime canoe attraction, Indian War Canoes, reopened as Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes at Disneyland.

Indian War Canoes first opened on July 4,1956, as part of Frontierland"s Indian Village expansion. Two authentic Indian guides were aboard every canoe, leading Guests on an exciting journey around the island and past Cascade Peak.

The Indian Village closed in 1971 to make way for Bear Country, prompting the new theme based on the legendary frontiersman known as the "King of the Wild Frontier." Guests have been paddling along the Rivers of America with frontier explorer guides ever since.

In both of its forms, the canoes are the only single-location attraction, besides the Disneyland Railroad, to reside in three different lands-Frontierland, Bear Country and Critter Country-without being moved.

These 35-foot long canoes have made appearances in other Disney parks as well. The attraction can still be found in Tokyo Disneyland as the Beaver Brothers Explorer Canoes and, for a short time, both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Paris had their own versions.
