Remember driving into Disneyland parking lot for the first time and getting goose bumps up and down your arms? Or what about the time you first witnessed the majestic sight of Sleeping Beatuy Castle?
We all remember our first time at a Disney park. Certain memories are important to each and every one of us, and this year at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, we're really going to treasure them.
On Sept.23, Tom Staggs,chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts,announced Let the Memories Begin, a new campaign being celebrated at the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts.
"For the first time ever, we are asking our guests to send us their most precious family memories, their photos and, most important of all, their home videos, "Tom said. "If the memory means something to our guests, then we want to share that memory with them...and everyone else."
At the heart of this campaign are guest stories they can share with us in brand-new ways. Television commercials, advertisements, broadcast specials and more will feature guest home-videos and personal photos. Even a new website has been created so they can upload their new memories for all to see at disneylandparks.com/memories.
The new campaign also will feature the website,disneyparks.com/Memories, where guests can get insider advice on how to really maximize their vacation.
Earlier this summer, we asked you to share your personal advice about Disney parks and resorts through an online guestionnaire held on The Hub. Thousands of cast members from both resorts answered a series of questions, and those responses helped provide content for hte website.
When the questionnaire ended, one thing was apparent- Disney memories aren't just for our guests, they're also for us.
DR LEE...I can remember when I was about 8 years old,"1960", our family went to Disneyland, some place in "Anahiem,were is that Dad" and my 2 brothers and I, we could not sleep the night before! Living in Lancaster, California, we had to get up like really early,say 4 a.m.,it's still dark out,were is my pillow! Arriving at Disneyland,I can remember walking up Main Street, U.S.A.,and seeing Mickey Mouse in person, instead of Television(Walt Disney's World of Color,remember Tinker Bell).
As I began my career at Disneyland, worked on the Jungle Cruise as the skipper,the Mark Twain and than on to the Club to become Dr Lee,Bartender. So many memories, guests,co-workers and family.

I just got back from Disneyland and can't bring myself to return to real life! My kids and I had Halloween candy for breakfast and have spent the morning watching Disney cartoons. (Have to wean myself from Disney magic slowly). While ending a day in the park, I remember a very special moment I had there as a child. I was about 11 years old and the operating day was coming to an end. My dad and I decided to go rest by the statue of Walt and Mickey and wait for the rest of the family to arrive. We didn't have much money we children knew that a day at Disneyland was a one-time special treat. I layed in my dad's lap and watched the twinkle lights in a tree nearby and tried to soak up and relish those last precious minutes in the park. I dozed off and was awakened by my mother who had found us. She handed me a small stuffed Minnie Mouse! I was thrilled! We knew not to ask for any toys in the park as we were sure there weren't funds for that kind of thing, but when she handed me that Minnie Mouse I felt like I had a piece of magic to take with me and could now leave the park and sleep well without too many tears!

A few years ago, my partner took me to Disneyland for my very first visit. I grew up on the east coast, and had never been to a Disney park before. I had previously thought that Disney was for little kids, but once I experienced the magic through my partner's eyes, I realized that Disneyland is a place where we can escape the real world and be kids again! I became hooked right away! We have joined the Disney Vacation Club, we have Disney VISA cards, and as of last week, we have annual passports! We were in the park last Friday for the Christmas Fireworks, which were absolutely stunning! Then, as if it could get any better, it began to SNOW on Main Street! It was so beautiful and magical!
On the plane ride home, we met a lady who had also been to Disneyland that weekend. She told us that she had taken her family and had actually gotten to go to the exclusive club 33! I was so jealous! I can't tell you how many times I have walked by the Blue Bayou and wished I could walk through the door next door. (I have to confess I've actually tried turning the doorknob!) We asked the lady on the plane how she got in, and she told us to search for your name online! I got so excited, thinking there might be some remote possibility that I might someday find myself inside Walt's exclusive club, that I got on the internet as soon as I got home! I don't know just what she meant, I can't imagine that you would grant such favor to a complete stranger, but I have read your blog, and find it just fascinating! Thank you for sharing your experiences with those of us who may only live vicariously through you, and I hope you have a happy retirement, Dr. Lee!!
