On Oct. 17, more than 14,000 walkers participted in the 20th Anniversary CHOC Walk in the Park presented by the Disneyland Resort and rasied more than $2 million for the patients at CHOC Childern's. Disney VoluntEARS had an astounding presence with 786 cast members, friends and family who raised a total of $140,000 as of Oct. 19, and funds are still coming in.
In the early morning kick-off ceremony, Disneyland Resort President George A. Kalogridis and Disney Ambassadors Danielle DuBois and Quinn Shurian surprised President and CEO of CHOC Childern's Kim Cripe with a check for $200,000 to CHOC Childern on behalf of the Disneyland Resort.
The Disneyland Resort has a long history in partnering with CHOC, which opened its doors in 1964. "Walt Disney was one of the founding board members for CHOC and, through this walk, we are continuing Walt's legacy of giving back to the community," said Allen Fazio, vice president, Global Business Technology Strategy and CHOC Walk co-executive champion.
"Thank you to all of our cast members, friends and family who are walking today or who have supported the CHOC Walk in some other way," said George. "We couldn't have done it without you!"
