Dr. Lee Returning Home To Dine At Club 33

After working 28 years at Club 33, it was so wonderful to return, but this time I was the guest!
Mickey and Pluto seemed happy to see me and I was sure happy to see them. Honestly, I miss Club 33, being there felt like home.

A "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" Day:

On July 17, 1989, Splash Mountain opened at Disneyland, joining the park's other famous mountain attractions, Matterhorn Bobsleds,Space Mountain and Big Thunder Railroad. Peaking at 87 feet tall, the attraction  features characters from the animated sequences of Walt Disney's classic film "Song of the South."

The film comes to life as Guests board a hollowed-out log vehicle to join the clever Brer Rabbit on his search for a "Laughin Place," encountering trouble with Brer Bear and  Brer Fox along the way. Critters serenade the travelers  with songs from the film as the log floats downstream, eventually careening five stories down Chick-A-Pin Hill and splashing into Briar Patch.

The attraction's finale reminds Brer Rabbit and Guests about the comforts of home and guarantees a " Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah"day. The showboat in the finale was also the largest animated prop at the time, measuring 50 feet wide and 30 feet high.

Many of the 100 Audio-Animatronics figures were repurposed from the America Sings attraction, which closed in 1988.

The addition of Splash Mountain-along with a new restaurant, Harbor Galley, and two new shops- capped a project to transform the land, formerly known as Bear Country, into Critter Country.

Love that drop.....Dr Lee
