Earlier this year,at an offical steel-cutting ceremony at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, sparks, confetti and pixie dust flew as Disney Cruise Line (DCL) moved full steam ahead on two brand-new ships! The ocean liners will expand the popular cruise line's fleet to four ships and more than double Guest capacity with 1,250 staterooms per ship!
Accented by those unmistakable mouse ears, The first piece of steel, cut on March 2,is just part of the Art Deco-inspired scrollwork that will grace the bow of both ships and pay homage to the look of classic ocean liners during the golden age of cruising in the 1930s.Just a week later, on the heels of this magical milestone, the official names of the two ships were revealed at the 2009 Annual Meeting of Shareholders. The "Disney Dream" will set sail in 2011,while the"Disney Fantasy" will hit the high seas in 2012.
Like the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder, the new ships will keep every member of the family in mind by providing a setting where families can reconnect, adults can recharge and kids can immerse themselves in the wonderful world of Disney. And while the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy will surely embody the casually elegant ambience of their predecessors, both ships will have a distinctive design of their own.
